Yang-Raising Stomach-Replenishing Decoction, Raising the Sinking Decoction, Original-Qi Lifting Decoction, and Middle-Tonifying Qi-Replenishing Decoction share a common therapeutic principle, which is the heavy use of tonifying the spleen and replenishing qi herbs, combined with medicinals that lift and raise the sinking. Among them,

• Yang-Raising Stomach-Replenishing Decoction heavily uses Astragalus Root, combined with Ginseng, White Atractylodes Rhizome, and Liquorice Root to tonify qi and nourish the stomach; Bupleurum, Saposhnikovia Root, Notopterygium, and Pubescent Angelica to raise clear yang and dispel wind and dampness; Pinellia, Dried Tangerine Peel, Poria, Alisma, and Coptis Rhizome to eliminate dampness and clear heat; Peony Root to nourish blood and harmonize the nutrient aspect. It is suitable for patterns of spleen and stomach qi deficiency, with clear yang failing to rise, and dampness stagnating to generate heat.
• Raising the Sinking Decoction heavily uses Astragalus Root combined with Cimicifuga Rhizome and Bupleurum to raise yang and elevate the drooping; and uses the cool and moistening properties of Anemarrhena to moderate the warmth of Astragalus Root; Platycodon Root carries the medicinals upward and serves as a guide. It is mainly used to treat patterns of sinking of the great qi in the chest. For cases with extreme spleen and lung deficiency, Ginseng can be added to strengthen the tonifying qi effect, or Asiatic Cornelian Cherry Fruit can be added to astringe the dissipation of qi.
• Original-Qi Lifting Decoction uses Ginseng, Astragalus Root, Atractylodes Rhizome, and Liquorice Root to tonify qi and supplement the middle, stop bleeding and stem collapse, assisted by Cimicifuga Rhizome to raise yang and elevate the drooping. It is suitable for sinking of middle qi, with menorrhagia and blood collapse pattern due to loss of blood control.
