This prescription originally treats the combination of diseases of taiyang and shaoyang. For those with diarrhea, it is mainly due to Shaoyang being affected by pathogenic factors, where the fire stagnation of Shaoyang internally presses on Yangming and descends to the large intestine. Since the location of the disease is in Shaoyang, the treatment should focus on harmonizing and resolving. The formula includes Skullcap Root, which clears heat and stops diarrhea. The "Shennong Bencao Jing" states that it "treats dysentery and diarrhea." Peony Root harmonizes the nutrient to relieve pain. The "Shennong Bencao Jing" states that it "treats pathogenic qi and abdominal pain." Liquorice Root and Chinese Date harmonize the middle and nourish the spleen. The combination of these herbs primarily clears interior heat. When interior heat is cleared, diarrhea can be stopped, and fever can be eliminated.
