Indications

1. Malignant sores with excessive bleeding, restlessness, inability to sleep, any loss of blood or blood deficiency, vexing thirst and heat, restless sleep.
2. Sores with excessive pus, vexing heat in the chest, palms, and soles, thirst.
3. Deficiency damage, pulmonary tuberculosis, hemoptysis, profuse sweating, also accompanied by fright and vigilance, sores in the mouth and tongue, the disease is in the heart.
4. Women with menstruation ahead of schedule, heavy and pale in color, thin and clear in quality, a feeling of emptiness and sagging in the lower abdomen, flusteredness, shortness of breath, fatigue and weakness in the limbs, anorexia, pale tongue texture, thin white coating, and fine soft pulse.

Formula Principles

This prescription is suitable for the syndrome of deficiency of both qi and blood. In the prescription, Ginseng and Astragalus Root powerfully tonify primordial qi; Chinese Angelica, Sichuan Lovage Rhizome, Peony Root, and Prepared Rehmannia Root tonify blood, enrich yin, and harmonize blood; Unprocessed Rehmannia Root clears heat, cools blood, enriches yin, and produces fluid. The combination of these herbs achieves the effect of tonifying and replenishing qi and blood. When qi is vigorous, blood is naturally generated; when blood is vigorous, qi has something to attach to.

1. Deficiency of both qi and blood.
2. Complexion is pale.
3. Dysphoria and restlessness.
4. Tongue is pale with thin white coating.
5. Pulse is thin and weak.

Formula Modification

1. Epigastric distension: Add Dried Tangerine Peel, Pinellia, Germinated Barley.
2. Qi deficiency and yang: Add Aconite Lateral Root, Cassia Bark.
3. Qi deficiency spontaneous sweating: Add oyster shell, Ephedra Root.
4. Blood deficiency yang hyperactivity: Add turtle carapace, Chinese Wolfberry Root-bark, Gentian.
