bubble_chart Formula Principles
This formula is effective in alleviating innominate swelling and pain, and is used for various conditions of qi depression, prolonged labor leading to the formation of nodules, and the development of sores and ulcers. The "Jiyin Gangmu" states: "The disease of carcinoma of the breast is mostly due to qi depression. The liver governs anger and its nature is to be free-flowing. When it is depressed and not relaxed, it bends its upright nature. The nipple belongs to the Jueyin meridian. If qi and phlegm accumulate over time, subcutaneous nodes form. Therefore, wind-dispelling herbs are used to follow its nature, and qi-regulating herbs are used to move its stagnation." The formula uses Ginseng, Astragalus Root, Liquorice Root, Chinese Angelica, and Peony Root to regulate and tonify qi and blood; Aucklandia Root, Submature Bitter Orange, Areca Seed, Magnolia Bark, and Lindera to soothe the liver and relieve depression, regulate qi to break accumulation, and resolve phlegm to remove stagnation; Cinnamon Twig, Saposhnikovia Root, Perilla Leaf, and Dahurian Angelica to dispel wind and reduce swelling; Sichuan Lovage Rhizome to invigorate blood and remove stagnation; and Platycodon Root to carry the other herbs upward.
