bubble_chart Formula Principles
This formula originates from the "Acute Infantile Convulsion" section of *Xiao'er Zhizhi Fang* and is primarily used for acute infantile convulsion in children. It is now widely applied in neurological disorders. In the formula, Uncaria clears heat and calms the liver, extinguishing wind and stopping convulsions; Bupleurum soothes the liver and relieves depression, harmonizing and clearing heat; when liver qi is excessive, liver blood becomes insufficient, so Chinese Angelica is used to nourish blood and pacify the liver; Sichuan Lovage Rhizome invigorates blood and removes stagnation; when the liver wood is diseased, it tends to over-restrain the spleen earth, so it is necessary to strengthen the earth to prevent wood from overwhelming it. Thus, Poria, White Atractylodes Rhizome, and Liquorice Root are used to fortify and supplement the spleen earth, eliminating dampness with bland medicinals. Liquorice Root also alleviates urgency and assists Uncaria in its convulsion-stopping function. When these seven ingredients are combined, liver blood is nourished, spleen earth is supplemented, liver qi is soothed, and wind is extinguished while convulsions are calmed, thereby curing all symptoms.
