This product is the whole herb of the Solanum genus plant Climbing Nightshade, belonging to the Solanaceae family. It is produced in various regions south of the Yellow River.

The stem and fruit contain solanine (i.e., Black Nightshade alkaloid solanine), with the fruit containing 0.3% to 0.7% and the stem containing 0.3%. The fruit skin also contains anthocyanins and their aglycones.

It has anti-tumor effects and exhibits significant antibacterial activity against Staphylococcus aureus and Pseudomonas aeruginosa.
