The above ingredients, including Astragalus and the other 12 ingredients, are finely ground and soaked in oil overnight. Then, they are simmered over low heat until the herbs turn black, and filtered. Next, pine resin, frankincense, and wax are added and melted completely, then filtered through cotton to remove dregs. The pot is wiped clean, and the medicinal oil is returned to the pot to simmer over low heat. Gradually, yellow lead is added while continuously stirring with a willow spatula.
