  1. Yin refers to soaking or permeating; qi can refer to healthy qi or pathogenic qi. The permeation of healthy qi refers to the physiological function of food essence moistening the skin, muscles, and tendons. For example, Suwen, Jingmai Bie Lun states: "Food qi enters the stomach, disperses essence to the liver, and permeates qi into the tendons." The permeation of pathogenic qi refers to the pathological changes of pathogenic factors overflowing. For example, Suwen-Shengqi Tongtian Lun states: "When wind invades and permeates qi, essence is lost."
