Boils and sores that occur at the philtrum are thus named. They are also known as "Dragon Spring boils and sores." If the boils and sores appear at the Chengjiang acupoint, they are called "chin boils"; if they appear at the corners of the mouth, they are known as "Tiger Whisker boils and sores," also referred to as "Tiger ulcer poison." These conditions are caused by the upward attack of fire toxin from the kidney and governor vessel meridians. Initially, small bumps resembling beans appear, which are hard, swollen, and painful, accompanied by systemic symptoms such as chills and fever. It is crucial to avoid squeezing them with hands, as this can easily lead to "running yellow of boils and sores."
