It is caused by the influence of the four seasons' wind, heat toxin, and pestilent qi. The main symptoms include eyelid swelling, redness of the eyelid and white of the eye, itching, pain, tearing, and thick, sticky eye discharge. Often, both eyes are affected either sequentially or simultaneously. This condition is known as infectious conjunctivitis.
