It is mostly caused by improper sweating and purging in taiyang disease. The five zang-organs all contain yang qi, and the injuries differ, leading to varying mechanisms of disease. For example, excessive sweating injures the yang of the lung-defense, manifesting as aversion to cold, sweating, and absence of fever. If sweating and purging injure heart yang, the mechanism of disease may manifest as upper energizer mental restlessness, presenting with chest fullness, dysphoria, and delirium; or as middle energizer water retention, causing counterflow fullness and palpitations below the heart; or as lower energizer cold rising qi counterflow, leading to running piglet syndrome, or water retention below the navel causing palpitations, as previously mentioned. If vomiting and purging damage spleen yang, it often results in water retention, qi stagnation, and diarrhea, as also mentioned earlier. If excessive sweating injures kidney yang, the disease may transmit and change from taiyang to shaoyin, presenting with symptoms such as "profuse sweating, leading to incessant fistula disease, aversion to wind, difficulty urinating, slight stiffness in the limbs, and difficulty bending and stretching," which corresponds to the Cinnamon Twig plus Aconite Decoction syndrome. If yang deficiency is severe, it may completely transform into shaoyin disease.
