Because the yang qi is extremely deficient, the internal storage of pudendal coldness is at its peak, and the residual yang qi cannot be concealed, it is repelled outward, which is repelling yang, manifesting symptoms such as body heat and absence of aversion to cold; when repelled upward, symptoms such as facial redness and dysphoria appear, known as "dai yang." Although the two manifestations differ, their essence is the same. Both are mechanisms of disease transformation characterized by true cold with false heat. This mechanism of disease transformation indicates a tendency of yin and yang to separate, a very serious tendency of disease with a poor prognosis. This corresponds to the syndrome types of Vessel-Unblocking Cold-Extremities Decoction and White Unblocking Decoction.
