• Polyporus has a neutral qi, embodying metal energy and entering the lungs; it has a sweet taste and is non-toxic, embodying earth energy and entering the spleen.
• The lungs govern management and regulation, while the spleen governs transportation, hence it can benefit Shuidao (ST28).
• Moreover, this substance is sweet when first unearthed but becomes tasteless over time. Being tasteless, it returns to the bladder.
• The bladder is Taiyang (EX-HN5), which has two interpretations: one is the Taiyang (EX-HN5) of the meridians and collaterals, and the other is the Taiyang (EX-HN5) of the Six Climatic Factors.
• What is the Taiyang (EX-HN5) of the meridians and collaterals? Its organ is below and governs water. It transforms the lung qi of the upper jiao, and transports the spleen qi of the middle jiao, thus regulating the lower jiao. The upper energizer acts as a sprayer, the middle energizer as a fermentor, and the lower energizer as a drainer. When the dredging function operates in the bladder, it creates a scene of clouds and rain within, leading to miraculous water regulation. This is not limited to benefiting Shuidao (ST28).
• The Taiyang (EX-HN5) of the Six Climatic Factors is called the Taiyang, corresponding to the heavens and defending the exterior, serving as the barrier for the heart. Initial exposure to wind-cold always enters the realm of Taiyang (EX-HN5). If not treated properly, it lingers in the membrane source and becomes malaria, and over time, it turns into chronic malaria (similar to cold-damage disease Zabing, which resembles malaria but is not). By using Polyporus to regulate Shuidao (ST28), water moves and qi transforms, distributing water essence throughout the body, leading to profuse sweating, harmonizing nutrient-defense, and resolving all pathogenic factors.
