Shaoyin disease, with cough and diarrhea, and delirious speech, is caused by the invasion of fire qi, leading to difficulty in urination, due to forcibly inducing sweating in the Shaoyin.

• The Shaoyin is associated with the kidneys, which govern water.
• When the Shaoyin is invaded by pathogenic factors, it cannot govern water, leading to cough when the pathogen attacks upwards and diarrhea when it attacks downwards. (1) If the pathogen transforms into cold, the True Warrior Decoction is indicated. (2) If the pathogen transforms into heat, the Polyporus Decoction is indicated.
• Now, being forced to sweat by the invasion of fire qi, the pathogen transforms into heat and transfers to the stomach, hence causing delirious speech; the body fluids are internally exhausted, hence causing difficulty in urination, all of which are due to forcibly inducing sweating in the Shaoyin. To rescue the yin, the White Tiger and Polyporus decoctions can be chosen and used accordingly!
