The twelve meridians each branch out collateral vessels in the limbs, and there is a luo-connecting point that communicates the connection between the exterior and interior meridians; in the trunk, there is also the conception vessel (CV) collateral (Jiuwei (CV15)) scattered in the abdomen, the governor vessel (GV) collateral (Changqiang (GV1)) scattered on the head, and the great collateral of the spleen (Dabao (SP21)) distributed on the flanks. The luo-connecting point can treat diseases of the exterior and interior meridians and related areas. Yuan Dynasty Dou MoZhenjing Zhinan said: "The luo-connecting point is right between the two meridians... If you puncture the luo-connecting point, you treat both the exterior and interior simultaneously."
