﹝Explanation of Name﹞

The point is located at the end of the toe, corresponding to Touqiaoyin (GB11) above and below, hence the name. To distinguish it from the same-named point on the head Benjing (Touqiaoyin (GB11)), Zhenjiu Zisheng Jing prefixed it with the character "foot".

﹝Category﹞

Well (Metal) point. Lingshu-Genjie: "shaoyang roots in Qiaoyin". Lingshu-Weiqi: "foot shaoyang originates between Qiaoyin".

﹝Location﹞

• Lingshu-Benshu: "At the end of the small toe and the next toe";
• Zhenjiu Jiayi Jing: "A leek leaf's width from the nail";
• Yixue Rumen: "At the end of the 4th toe, lateral side". That is, on the lateral side of the 4th toe, 1 fen behind the lateral corner of the toenail.

﹝Local Anatomy﹞

• Nerves: Dorsal digital nerve.
• Blood vessels: Dorsal digital artery and vein, and the arterial and venous network formed by the metatarsal artery.

﹝Acupuncture and Moxibustion﹞

Shallow puncture 0.2～0.3 cun. Moxa cone moxibustion 3～5 cones, moxa stick warm moxibustion 10～15 minutes.

﹝Effects﹞

Clears heat, benefits the hypochondrium, relieves stuffy orifices.

﹝Indications﹞

• Classical: Hypochondriac pain with inability to rest, cough with sweating, cold hands and feet, vexing heat, muscle cramps, headache, pharyngitis, curled and dry tongue, deafness, tinnitus, Yongju, gallbladder cold with inability to lie down, nightmares, inability to lift the elbow and arm.
• Modern: Biliary ascariasis.

• Pharyngitis with curled and dry tongue: Guanchong (TE1), Shaoze (SI1), Zuqiaoyin (GB44).
• Inability to extend the elbow and arm: Shousanli (LI10), Zuqiaoyin (GB44).
• Muscle cramps without sweating: Danshu (BL19), Taiyuan (LU9), Kongzui (LU6), Yanglingquan (GB34), Zuqiaoyin (GB44).
• Nightmares during sleep: Xinshu (BL15), Neiguan (PC6), Shenmen (HT7), Zusanli (ST36), Zuqiaoyin (GB44).
