The three yang meridians of the hand connect here.

﹝Source﹞

Zhenjiu Jiayi Jing.

﹝Location﹞

On the extensor side of the forearm, 4 cun proximal to the dorsal wrist crease, between the ulna and radius, on the line connecting Dangyang (EX-HN2) and the tip of the elbow.
  • Suwen-Gukong Lun: "On the yang side of the arm, 4 cun from the ankle, between the two bone spaces."
  • Zhenjiu Jiayi Jing: "On the large intersecting vessel of the upper arm, 1 cun above Zhigou (TE6)."

﹝Local Anatomy﹞

  • Muscles: Between the origins of the extensor digitorum and abductor pollicis longus muscles, abductor pollicis brevis.
  • Nerves: Posterior cutaneous nerve of the forearm, deep layer at the posterior interosseous nerve of the forearm.
  • Vessels: Posterior interosseous artery and vein of the forearm.

﹝Acupuncture and Moxibustion﹞

Perpendicular insertion 0.5～1 cun, moxa cone moxibustion 3～5 cones, moxa stick warming moxibustion 5～15 minutes.

﹝Effects﹞

Improves hearing.

﹝Indications﹞

  • Classical: Headache, drowsiness, deafness, sudden loss of voice, toothache, arm paralysis and inability to lift, sprain and contusion lumbago, internal damage deficiency.
  • Modern: Acupuncture anesthesia point for lung resection surgery.

﹝Prescription Examples﹞

  • Acute hoarseness: Sanyangluo (TE8), Zhigou (TE6), Tonggu.
  • Headache: Fengchi (GB20), Sanyangluo (TE8).
  • Acupuncture anesthesia prescription for lung resection surgery: Sanyangluo (TE8) through Ximen (PC4).
