﹝Name Explanation﹞

Yin Meridian yuan-source point, all named "Tai"; "Chong" refers to a vital thoroughfare, named for its abundant blood and qi.

﹝Source﹞

Lingshu-Benshu.

﹝Location﹞

• Lingshu-Benshu:"Two cun above Xingjian (LR2), in the depression";
• Zhenjiu Jiayi Jing:"Two cun posterior to the big toe, or one and a half cun, in the depression".

﹝Regional Anatomy﹞

• Muscles: Lateral border of the extensor hallucis longus tendon, first dorsal interosseous muscle, oblique head of the adductor hallucis muscle.
• Nerves: Dorsal metatarsal nerve of the deep peroneal nerve, deep layer is the medial plantar nerve of the tibial nerve.
• Vessels: Dorsal venous network of the foot, first dorsal metatarsal artery.

﹝Acupuncture and Moxibustion﹞

Perpendicular insertion 0.5-1 cun, or penetrate towards Yongquan (KI1). Moxa cone moxibustion 3-5 cones, moxa stick warm moxibustion 5-10 minutes.

﹝Functions﹞

Pacifying liver and extinguishing wind, clearing heat and promoting function of gallbladder, improving vision.

﹝Indications﹞

• Classical: Headache, vertigo, blurred vision, itchy eyes, red and painful eyes, tearing upon wind exposure, deviated lips, sore throat, dry throat, throat qi obstruction, hypochondriac pain, abdominal pain, hernia pain, genital pain, retracted genital disease, ischuria, enuresis, gonorrhea, epilepsy, abdominal thunder, vomiting and inability to eat, lienteric diarrhea, fullness under the ribs, slight abdominal distension and fullness, difficulty in defecation, jaundice, lumbago, cold-dampness beriberi pain, swelling and pain in the thigh and knee, difficulty in walking, postpartum incessant sweating, fistula disease, amenorrhea, acute mastitis.
• Modern: Hepatitis, hypertension, neurasthenia, dysfunctional uterine bleeding, prolonged labor, menstrual irregularities, mastitis, mammary hyperplasia, intercostal neuralgia, myopia, decreased vision, glaucoma, conjunctivitis, thrombocytopenia, facial muscle spasm, finger tremor, tremor paralysis, hysteria.

• Acute mastitis: Fuliu (KI7), Taichong (LR3).
• Fistula disease: Taichong (LR3), Rangu (KI2).
• Sloppy diarrhea: Shenque (CV8), Sanyinjiao (SP6), Taichong (LR3).
• Difficulty in walking: Taichong (LR3), Qiuxu (GB40).
• Acute sexually transmitted disease hepatitis: Zusanli (ST36), Taichong (LR3) penetrate to Yongquan (KI1).
• Difficulty in walking: Taichong (LR3), Zusanli (ST36), Zhongfeng (LR4).
• Deficiency fatigue edema: Shenshu (BL23) (moxibustion), Taichong (LR3) (moxibustion).
• Women's fistula disease: Sanyinjiao (SP6), Taichong (LR3).
