One day, they were taking an afternoon nap in the room. 'He' woke up first, and fearing 'he' might disturb 'her,' 'he' tiptoed out of the room, gently closing the door behind 'him', and went to the living room. Gazing at the autumn scenery outside the window, reminiscing about the past 'he' shared with 'her,' and noticing the long-neglected guzheng, a sudden insight struck 'him'. 'He' sat down in front of the instrument and began to play.

'His' fingers glided lightly back and forth over the strings, like a breeze skimming the surface of a tranquil lake, stirring ripples of sound. The music carried a faint melancholy, as if recounting an ancient and profound tale. The notes rose and fell — now soaring, now low and weeping, now high and pleading — each tone like a cry from the depths of the soul, tugging at the listener's heartstrings. 'His' expression was calm, tinged with a trace of sorrow, 'his' brows slightly furrowed, 'his' eyes glistening with unshed tears, 'his' gaze seemingly harboring endless thoughts. The entire living room was steeped in this sorrowful melody.

'She' awoke to the sound of the guzheng and stopped at the doorway, hesitant to interrupt 'him.' 'She' listened intently, as if drawn into a distant and profound world by the music. The melody ebbed and flowed, its highs and lows plucking at 'her' heartstrings, stirring wave after wave of emotion within 'her.' 'Her' heart trembled, and 'her' eyes grew moist and blurred. Even after the music ceased, a lingering sadness remained in 'her' heart. 'She' stood in silence for a moment before quietly entering the living room.

'She' approached 'him' silently from behind. 'He' remained seated motionless before the guzheng, unaware of 'her' presence. 'She' gently wrapped 'her' arms around 'him' from behind. 'He' stirred, turned to look at 'her,' and smiled softly as 'he' caressed 'her' hand.

"Darling, why does your music sound so sorrowful?"
"You heard it? Haha..."
"Aren't we happy enough?" 'She' smiled, though 'her' brows faintly furrowed.
"No... it's just..."
"Just what?"
"Just... afraid..."
"Afraid?"
"Afraid that this happiness... might vanish without a trace in an instant..."
"Darling," 'she' tightened 'her' embrace, pressing 'her' cheek against 'his' back, "it won't. I'll always be with you..."
"Always?"
"Mhm... always..."
"Thank you..."
"What for, silly..."
