'His' master once told 'him' an ancient story.

In the immeasurable, countless years of the past, there was once a Bodhisattva in this mundane world who, out of compassion for the suffering of all living beings trapped in the cycle of rebirth, made a great vow. He vowed to save all sentient beings, and if he ever shrank back from this task, may his body shatter into a thousand pieces! His vow was incomparably resolute, enabling him to endure endless eons of listening to cries of suffering and providing relief.

One day, using his divine eye, he observed that the beings he had just saved quickly fell back into suffering again. As he saved them, they would rise and fall. "When will this ever end?" The very moment a thought of retreat flickered in his mind, his body instantly shattered into a thousand pieces, and his head split into ten fragments! At that moment, his master appeared immediately, reassembling his thousand shattered fragments into a body with a thousand hands and a thousand eyes, and piecing together his ten fragmented head parts into a single head bearing ten different faces, atop which manifested the compassionate countenance of his master.

His master comforted and encouraged him, urging him not to forget his original aspiration, to have compassion for all beings, and to understand that saving others is saving oneself. From then on, the Bodhisattva possessed eleven faces, a thousand arms, and a thousand eyes, attaining peerless great wisdom and power. He continued to save the endless sentient beings of this realm, becoming an existence revered and relied upon by all.

At the time, 'he' thought this story was romantically touching. 'He' imagined that when someone identified with this story, with this ideal, that person would become one of the great Bodhisattva's faces, one of his arms, one of his eyes, becoming a part of the great Bodhisattva. The true form of the great Bodhisattva might perhaps be a composite entity formed from countless such small existences; the great Bodhisattva is a composite existence coalesced from a sacred ideal.

Back then, 'he' told 'his' master about 'his' understanding. 'His' master told 'him' it was good, and that 'his' understanding was partially correct. 'His' master then said, however, the actual form of existence of the great Bodhisattva is already beyond the comprehension and imagination of ordinary people, just as an ant cannot imagine or understand a human. The relationship between humans and the great Bodhisattva is like that between ants and humans.

Even within a 4D virtual game, there exist super players who can achieve extraordinary mastery. In the grand virtual field of the universe, there also exist great Bodhisattvas who have attained sublime, transcendent skill.

'His' feelings towards the story of this great Bodhisattva underwent a complete transformation after 'he' personally experienced over two hundred years of searching for 'her'. Beyond the romance, this story actually carries a touch of tragedy and grandeur! Let alone a hundred or a thousand lives — even pulling just one from the depths is far, far too difficult. After countless trials and despair, the heart may truly shatter into a thousand pieces! After enduring countless trials and despair, the heart can truly shatter into a thousand pieces! After enduring countless trials and moments of despair, the heart can indeed shatter into a thousand pieces! Yet, it is precisely through this repeated process of breaking and mending that one can truly grow a new mind, new hands, and new eyes. 'He' finally understood: shattering, it turns out, is the only path to becoming one with a thousand hands and a thousand eyes!
